Vernal Equinox fire spinning (VIDEO)

Saturday night a couple of friends and I went to Galt Gardens to watch some fire spinners perform in celebration of the Vernal Equinox – also known as the first day of Spring. Various spinners danced with both Poi (pendulum-like fire spinning tools that have handles attached to chains attached to a flammable wick on the end) and staffs to create a wondrous (and enviable) sight. Personally I’d just be scared to have my hair catch fire, so kudos to the performers who made it look so easy.

In Lethbridgian View news, the blog address has changed to http://lethview.blogspot.com/, since I felt it was appropriate for the address to reflect the blog name more. Also I have set up a short poll that can be found on the main page of the blog in the sidebar to see who would like to see A Lethbridgian View branch out into social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. So if you have a moment or two, I would love to have your feedback on that.

As always, if you have any comments, questions or inquires, I can be reached directly via e-mail (no, the e-mail address will not change).

Have a great week, everyone!

  1. Nice vid! I love that we have firespinning here. Are they going to do it every Saturday again? I should head down and take some more pics sometime… the last ones I took were a few years ago, but they were wicked!

  2. I'm not sure. Linds said that they did it every Saturday last year too. I guess it wouldn't hurt to show up next Saturday to check, but I know it would be nice to know ahead of time.
